WORK AT TE AWAMUTU. GOOD TIMES REGISTERED. ASPIAN DISPLAYS BRILLIANCY. [FROM our own correspondent.] TE AWAMUTU, Saturday. The weather was ideal for training operations at To Awamutu this morning, and a lot of interesting work was executed on the course proper. As the trestles were out j about 15 feet all the gallops were a little j over the exact distance, but, nevertheless. ; some good times were recorded, which indicates that the track was in very fair order. The local horses appear to bo well I forward, especially the two-year-olds, who registered some very pleasing efforts. Kairuri and Miss Lorraino were the only | ones to work before breakfast. Kairuri was I allotted an easy seven furlongs without i being' extended, while Miss Lorraine ran S three furlongs in 40s. This filly is making I rapid progress, and although it will be some I timo before she will be ready to race she ; knows how to handle herself when gallop- ! tug. Teazan was travelling well within i himself at the end of three furlongs in 3ft 4-ss. Although nothing strenuous, has been exacted from Teazan since arriving at Te Awamutu he appears to be more forward than tho local two-year-olds and the second day of tho Avondale meeting will see him in action. ' Shamgar led Limeen in the early stages of a. five furlongs gallop, but Limeen finished stronglv to have a slight advantage when the post was reached. The time was 1.6, the last four furlongs taking 51*s. I Limeen again worked attractively and proi miscs to strip in good order at Avondale. Earapoti's Three Furlongs. From practically a standing start, Karapiti ran three furlongs in 39 l-ss. and was not extended at any stage. Afterwards he was given steady work on tho lead in toe middle. ~ . , , 1 A very attractive gallop was provided ! by Sea Fuller and Miss Linley. who got to ' the end of four furlongs in 50js. Iney ■ finished together, but Sea Ruler appeared j to be going the better and his prospects : as an early two-year-old look bright. ' Aspian easily accounted for All Soult over ' ! live furlongs in 1.5, the last three in Wis. I The track conditions have been against I Vspian. but this morning the going was : (rood and ho displayed all his former bril'Marcchal ran seven furlongs in 1.34}. He • | was assisted by Trishna and the 111 lumination—Kiki gelding over the. last hree furlongs in 39 3-Ss, and they finished to- ' -ether Marechal has been getting through i a. lot of useful work and should be an nu- ■ I proved horse this season. . Supremacy reeled off five furlongs in 1.6. . | He. went, very fast over the first two furlongs, but appeared to be loafing in, the 1 concluding stages and would have giver. | a better display in company. I Pegaway was going very easily to run . two furlongs in 20s, while Leitrini covered - ' a furlong further in 41s. Both these horses ; have been restricted to steady work Since I returning from a spell, but they are now ' starting to be sent along in their work. Rose Lupin Surprises. tfosu Lupin went surprisingly well to ' finish alongside. Biddy's Boy at the end ot , five furlongs in 1.64. Biddys Boy has settled down in his work and does not exert himself, but, he is in great order and dmj plays a wonderful burst of speed when ret quired. ~ , , ~ , The Avondale Cup candidate Motero was sent a mile and a-quarter. He stretched out, in good style to run the distance w 2 16. the last mile taking 1.48 . This horse is improving with every gallop, but. 1 nevertheless, he may require a race before • being ready to ehow his best. . Taurua was going better than Te Hoia, at the conclusion of seven furlongs in 1.36*. the last half-mile taking . 535. Taurua worked well, while To Hoia is an easygoing customer and does not exert tumseit. but can be relied upon to produce his best '"Royal Ruler showed improved form by getting to the end of four furlongs m 51 l-ss. The disappointing Chief Ruler gelding may show to better advantage this season. , ... , T . _ ~,„ Loombination and king s Knave ran tne first two furlongs in 25}s and completed four in 5215, with King's Knave showing to more advantage. Loombination showed n fine turn of speed to lead his companion in the early stages, but weakened in the. run to the post. Ho will have to improve to attract attention in the Avondale Stakes. . Good Effort by Kingsway. There was very little between Kingsway and Red Lion at the end of five furlongs in 1.6 1-5. For a horse of his class it was quite a good effort for Kingsway, who should collect a stake this season. Luciduß was travelling well within himself at the end of half-a-mile in 6215. The full brother to Biddy's Boy is a bold galloper and much interest will be centred upon his first appearance. Protomint, who jumped off at the six furlongs post, ran home in 1.2'2. but was not eased up until passing the six furlongs peg again, the full distance, a little short of n. mile, taking 1.505. The Musketoon—Sibford two-year-old shower] more pace than Erination over two furlongs in 265. He. is rather small, but possesses a, fine buret of speed. Teels was timed to run three furlongs. in 39s without being . unduly bustled. Te Homai (J. Mcßae) was sent once round over the steeplechase course, giving a satisfactory display.
