HERALD'S SPECIAL FORECAST.
UNSETTLED, WITH RAIN. The following weather, forecast for 24 hours from 7 a.m. to-dav was supplied by Mr. 11. M. Vincent last evening :—jTlin new westerly depression moved on to tho Dominion during the week-end, arid is now centred in the south. Expect unsettled weather generally, with rain in most districts, heavy in western areas. Hail and thunder probable in places near the west coast. Mild temperatures, becoming colder. Northerly to northwesterly winds, moderate to strong, squally at times, backing temporarily to south-west. Rough seas on tho west coast, particularly southward from Cape Egmont; moderate seas on tho east coast, although fairly rough in tho Bay of Plenty. Local outlook: Unsettled, with rain, but fair intervals will intervene. Buromctcr, midnight, falling .. 29.651n. Midnight, Saturday .. •• 29.90 in, Temperature in shade yesterday (to mid-night)—-Maximum, 63deg.; Minimum, 42dcg. GOVERNMENT REPORT. Tho Government meteorologist reported last evening as follows: —An extensive depression from tho Tasman Sea is moving on to tho Dominion. It lias apparently developed cyclonic form and the centre is located to-day west of Farewell Spit. A series of depressions of tho westerly typo extends along tho south coast of Australia and over tho southern Tasman Sea. Indications are for moderate to strong north-easterly to northerly winds, reaching galo forco in places, changing temporarily to southerly soou from Cook Strait southward. Seas becoming rough generally. Strong northerly to westerly winds to gales with rough to heavy seas in the eastern Tasman Sea. The weather will be unsettled, cloudy and misty, with fairly general rain and some heavy falls more especially in western districts. RAINFALL RECORD.
