SURF CLUB CONTESTS. The eecond amateur -wrestling tourney <oj "\ be held in aid of funds for, the Takapun* j Surf and Life-saving Club was staged at the Gaiety Theatre, Takapuna, last evening. The attendanoe was good and the bout* proved to be evenly contested , . <■ ■_ L. Bloorafield. the Auckland heavy-weight,, gave a most instructive display of holds with H. C. Sidford. Bloomfield then worked out with Sidford; J. Donald and N. Brown in turn over three five-minute rounds. Trophies __ were presented at the completion of the bout by Mr. B. C. Hart, president of the club. Scotty McDousal was unable to ap* " pear, as he was suffering from influenza. George Walker appeared, but was unable" to wrestle, 'as he waß suffering from a, stiff neck. Mr. G. Butter refereed the bouts. -. Following are the results:-- •. ; C. Anderson (9sU beat F. French (9st.) by a fall from a reverse full .nelson in tn« first round, • , _ ■ _ , .... -S. Paton (list. 41b.) by two straight falls by a body pressin the first and a body scissors in the second * A. Langdale (aged 14) drew with B Wil- # liamson, (aged 1C) no falls being registered G. Edwards (9st. 61b.) beat L. Baker (9st. Clb.) by two straight falls. The first fall was obtained in the second round with an arm cradle and press and .the deciding fall with a fall from a body press. This . was a good display. ~ , . . W Williamson, feather-weight champion of Auckland, drew with -L. Pickering, lightweight champion of Auckland.. Pickering secured a eubmission from a Japanese arm bar in the first and Williamson secured a fall from an alligator clutch after a fin© display.
