NEW BRIGHTON TROTS.

TO-MORROW'S MEETING. SOME LIKELY COMPETITORS. PROSPECTS 'OF ROICOLE. [froit OUR /OWN CORRESPONDENT.] CHRISTCHURCH. Tuesday. Although Playwave looked well, she was one of tho outsiders in her race at Addington and failed t.< show any form. Playwave, who is by Waverley from Play Soon, started on 23 occasions last season and won twice. She was one.of tho outsiders of the field, paying a largo dividend, when she beat Sunny Bob and Great Author in the Wainoni Handicap at the New Brighton meeting last February. Playwave is to race again in the Wainoni Handicap on Saturday. She was on the limit, 2.48, in February, and is now 36 yards behind, the limit having been lengthened to 2.50. Tiny Guy, who is in the mile and a-half trotters' race at New Brighton, is a four-year-old by Guy P&rrish from the once well-known trotting mare Tiny Moon. He is small, but he can show a good deal of speed. He is trained at New Brighton by G. F. Robinson, who raced his dam with success. The pacer Dollhr King, who is a halfbrother (by Drusus) to Donard, is now trained by H. Frost at New Brighton. He did a good deal oi racing last season and was showing considerable improvement, but heing a big, overgrown four-year-old, it wns decided to give him a rest, and he was turned out early in the winter. Dollar Kins looks in good order to commence the season's racing on Saturday, when ho is to compete in the Belfast Handicap. J, J. Kennerley has Silver Bingen in good shape to commence tho season and he looks like being an early stake-earner in races up to a mile and a-half. He is 30 yards, behind in the Belfast Handicap, limit 3.40. at New Brighton. Roicole has taken a new lease of life and the King C'o'.o pacer put un ciuite a good showing in the Selwyn Handicap of a mile and a-nuarter on the first day of the August meeting at Addington, when he finished fourth. He has since been working well and he may do better at New Brighton. Roicole was a good stayer early in his career, but of late he has been raced over sprint courses ' The Wellington-owned pacer Zella liaa not been long at Addington and she has done very little fast work, so that elie can hardly be ready to show her best at New Brighton. Zella looks well, and, as she possesses both speed and stamifia, she only requires to make a good beginning to be very troublesome in race* As a rule, she goes away k a if l3 Nona Bingen keeps eound. ehe should not be long before she wins a race. She put up a creditable performance when she finished Becond to Some Guy m the Farewell Handicap at the Aebburton meeting in June, covering the mile and.' a-half in 321 1-5. She started only five times last season. Noni Bingen figures in two races on Saturday.
