THREE M.P.'S LEAVE. ARRANGING A CONFERENCE. MEETING THE DIRECTORS TO-DAY. [BY TEUEGBAPH. —KRESS ASSOCIATION.'] WELLINGTON, Thursday. The Leader of the Labour Party, Mr. H. E. Holland, received a telegram this afternoon from Mr. J. Latham, secretary of the Hikurangi Miners' Union, asking that he should endeavour to arrange a conference between the directors of the Hikurangi Coal Company, the directors of Wilsons' Colliery, the Government and the miners' representatives, with a view to effecting a settlement of the Hikurangi trouble. Similar telegrams were received by the Minister of Mines, the Hon. A. J. Murdoch, and the member for the district, Mr. H. M. Rushworth. Mr. Rushworth then interviewed the Minister of Mines and arranged to leave for Hikurangi this evening. At. Mr. Holland's request, Messrs. R. Semple and W. E. Parry,~both men with practical mining experience, agreed to proceed to Hikurangi with Mr.. Rushworth for the purpose of endeavouring to get the parties together with a view to bringing about a settlement. The three members left this .evening and they will approach the directors of both mines at Auckland, after which they will go on to Hikurangi. Mr. Holland got into communication .with the Prime Minister and the Minister of Mines, and they agreed that the inspector of mines, Mr. W. Barclay, should co-operate with the three members of Parliament.
