YESTERDAY'S SALES. RETURN ON INVESTMENTS. Following is a list of yesterday's transactions on New Zealand Stock Exchanges. In the second column is given the return, based on the last annual dividend, from investment at the quoted price. In the case of Government and other redeemable securities the return includes redemption. In calculating the returns on shares in companies which pay their dividends outside New Zealand exchange rates, being liable to fluctuations, have not been taken into consideration. The first column gives the figures at which the sales were made:— AUCKLAND EXCHANGE.

PRODUCE EXPORT. ALLOCATION OF SPACE. AUCKLAND'S LARGE SHARE. Shipping space for 528,500 boxes of butter and 97,010 crates of cheese has been allotted by the Dairy Produce Board to steamers leaving New Zealand for the United Kingdom between September 12 and October 31. Of these amounts the Auckland Province will export 382,400 boxes of butter, or about 72 per cent, of the total Dominion allocation, and 28,177 crates of cheese, or approximately" 29 per cent, of the total allocation. Tongariro and Corinthic from Wellington. The Tongariro's shipment is for the West Coast of Britain and the shipments by the Port Gisborne and the Kent partly for West Coast ports. CANADIAN WINE. IMPROVING THE QUALITY. OTTAWA, Sept. 2. Ontario wine producers and Federal Government officials discussed regulations which are proposed to bring Canadian wine to the standard of quality necessary to meet Australian ftnd .European competition. The Government recently provided for tax-free fruit spirits to be used in this year's vintagfc, -replacing sugar.
