SPEED IN MANUFACTURE.
BRITISH WORLD RECORD. A piece of cloth which, was made in record time is a display which is attracting attention to a window" of "Masco, Limited, the wool store, Karangahape Road. The cloth is a part of the material - from which a suit was made for Mr. J. H. Thomas, Secretary of State for the Dominions, in two hours ten minutes from the time thu wool was shorn from the sheep's back. For the purpose of making the record 12" Southdown sheep were taken to tha Union Mills, Milnsbridge, and seven shearers set to work on them at 10.25 a.m. The first fleece was shorn in 2£ minutes and the wool was immediately msllied through the various processes of scouring, dyeing, squeezing, drying, teasing, carding, spinning, winding, weaving, milling,* washing, tentering, trimming and pressing, and finally the prepared cloth left the mill 1 hour 40 minutes after the first sheep was shorn. Tailors immediately took possession and this cloth was cut up and made into a suit in 30 more minutes, the complete operations finishing at 12.35 p.m.
