SMALL FARMERS' NEEDS.
QUESTION OF ASSISTANCE. SUGGESTIONS AT TAURANGA. [from: our own corresfonpent.] TAURANGA, Tuesday. At a meeting convened by the Tauranga branch of the Farmers' Union the question of assisting small farmers was discussed and it was decided that a deputation should wait on the directors of the Tauranga Co-operative Dairy Association with a view to the organisation of a cow loan and purchase scheme. It was agreed that representations be made to the authorities that where a farmer's net income was less than £75 per annum ho should be eligible for work under the Unemployment Act. The question of pig marketing %vas considered and a committee was appointed to confer with the auctioneering firms with a view to the establishment of a. pig market at Tauranga.
