WOMEN'S DIVISION.
FARMERS' UNION. Taneatua. —A meeting of the Tancatua branch of the Women's Division of the Farmers' Union was held last week. The president, Mrs. Grace, presided over a good attendance of members. A sponge sandwich competition was won by Mrs. E. Hill, Mrs. T. Mitchell being second. A cake name-guessing competition was also held, tho winner being Mrs. Ashworth. It was decided to hold a garden party in September to raise funds for the division. Mesdames J. Peebles, \ alley and Mitchell were hostesses.
Manngakaramea.—Tho 'Maungakaramea branch of tho Women's Division of the Farmers' Union met at the residence of Mrs. J. T. Walker, recently. Sirs. J. T. Walker and Mrs. Harvey were elected "advisory members'' in connection with tho housekeeping scheme. After tho conclusion of the ordinary business nn adjournment was made to the garden, where Mr. Timewcll, of Whangarei, gave a very interesting and instructive talk on pot plants. He also answered a number of quest-ions concerning the growing of dahlias and gladioli. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded Mr- Tiinewell, and afternoon tea was provided. Tira-j.—The Tirau branch met recently, Mrs. Morris presiding. Tho branch decided to join the Now Zealand Pan-Pacific Women's Association. During the month parcels of clothing and vegetables have bpen forwarded to the Hamilton branch for distribution to needy cases, and members aro also helping Mrs. Coubrough in her effort on behalf of the Sunshine League. A competition arranged by Mrs. C. T. Allen, who also donated the prize, was won by Mrs. Watkins.
