OBITUARY.
LORD STANLEY OF ALDERLEY. (Receiver! August 23. 5.5 p.ni.) LONDON. August 22. The death has occurred of Lord Stanley of Alderley, who was Governor of Victoria,, 1914-19. Arthur Lyulph Stanley, fifth Baron Stanley of Alderley, was born in 1875, and was at Oxford University. He married in 1905 Miss Margaret Evelyn Gordon, of Ighthani, and their son, the Hon. Edward John Stanley, succeeds to the title, to which his father succeeded in 1925. Lord Stanley, who was a barrister, was Liberal member for tho Eddisbury division of Cheshire, 1906-10. He was Parliamentary Secretary to the Postmaster-General, 190610, and was Governor of Victoria, 1914-19. MR. EDWARD DYSON. (Received August 23, 8.15 p.m.) MELBOURNE. August 23. Mr. Edward Dyson, poet, prose author and journalist, died at St. Hilda Jto-day, aged 66. He was also a noted cartoonist. Ho was the eldest of the Dyson family. Mr. Edward George Dyson was born at Morrison's Diggings, Victoria, in 1865. Ho wrote " Rhymes From tho Mines," and among his novels were " The Golden Shanty,". " Fac'try "Ands," " The Missing Link" and " The Love of Lancelot." Mr. Will Dyson, the cartoonist, is a brother.
