Mobs at Port.adown, County Armagh, smashed windows and looted shops late last night, and attempted to batter down the gates of a convent.

Lon'y loads of police were rushed from Belfast, and special constables were mobilised.

The telephone wires were cut, and trees felled and spread over the roads t-o prevent the Hibernians from reaching Armagh, where tho police charged with their batons and quelled the disturbances.

A crowd at Lisburn set fire to a shop and damaged a convent.
