CHICHESTER AT MANILA.
DAMAGED MACHINE USED. PROPELLER ROUGHLY MENDED. , MANILA. July 17. The New Zealand airman Mr. F. C. Chichester, who is flying to Japan, arrived at Manila this afternoon from. Masbate, 250 miles distant. When he landed one end of the propeller of his machine was patched with a piece of a petrol tin and nails and the other end was boiind with rubbertape. On leaving Ormok on Tuesday the propeller struck a floating object in the sea but though the aeroplane was in a precarious condition, the intrepid airman flew the 120 miles to Masbate. .
