BENEFIT DANCE AND SOCIAL

MANGATEPARU LEAGUE. ■. ~. - .. . . . ■ - " i ■ A most successful dance and social, organised by the Mangateparu Settlors' League,. was hold in the Mangateparu Hall on Saturday evening. The generous response "to an appeal for the aid of a distressed settler must have been very gratifying. The large hall could not accommodate the largo number that attended and the supper room had to be used also for dancing, while the capacious platform was also crowded with spectators. Visitors were present in largo numbers from Morrinsville and all the surrounding districts. Splendid music was supplied by Scott's dance band, and extras were played by Mesdames Pole and Brayshaw. During the evening songs were Contributed by Mesdames A. Topham, E. Hitchman and Mr. L. Echlin, and a cornet solo by Mr. Holton. To provide for such a large number was no mean undertaking, but the ladies served a bountiful supper. Tlie chairman of the Mangateparu Settlers' League, Mr. D.
