WAIKATO FIXTURE.

PROFIT OF ABOUT £IOOO. AN UNQUALIFIED SUCCESS. [from our own correspondent.] HAMILTON, Tuesday. After allowing £622 for depreciation, a credit balance of £1249 was shown in the statement of accounts for the last Waikato Winter Show, according to a rough balance-sheet presented to an executive meeting of the Winter Show Association to-day. A net profit of about £IOOO was made on the show, as against £1942 for the 1930 fixture. The gate receipts totalled £1944, as -against £2437 last year. The president, Mr. J. R. Fow, said the position was much better than was expected and, considering thu times, the show had been an unqualified success. It was decided that the dates for next show should be from May 31 to June 4, five days, instead of the eight days during which the show was open this year. Various suggestions were made for improving the next show. Mr. A. K. Alexander expressed the hope that the Agricultural Department would be induced to exhibit. No charge was made for tho space the exhibit occupied and many people came specially to see it. , The secretary, Mr. W. 11. Paul, said the Railway Department had intimated that it would exhibit next year. Mr. Fow said the district courts were a great attraction, but when only one prize was awarded the losers were not willing to repeat tho trouble they had taken. i Mr. W. Rothwell strongly advocated the revival of tho poultry section, which was eliminated from the last show. A committee consisting of Messrs. W. Rothwell, A. J. Davison, A. M. Bisloy, and J. Ballard, was appointed to con sider tho suggestions made and to report to the next meeting.
