LATE MR. N. A. NATHAN.
At a meotii>£ of directors of the Union Oil, Soap and Candle Company, Limited, of Auckland, a motion expressing appreciation of the services of the late Mr. N. Alfred Nathan was passed. The chairman, Mr. E.W. Evans, said it was 37 .years since Mr. Nathan was appointed to the board, and he had sat continuously as a member for that period with the exception of a slight break while residing in England. The chairman said this lengthy service was an endorsement of the implicit confidence and goodwill reposed in the lato Mr. Nathan by the shareholders of the company.
