DOMINION'S ATTRACTIONS.
UNITED STATES INTEREST. FAME OF THE WEEKLY NEWS. Publicity gjven to New Zealand's scenic beauties, tourist resorts and sporting attractions through the illustrated section of the Auckland Weekly News has proved of incalculable value to the Dominion, according to tho impression formed by Mr. David Cody, director of the Charles Haines Advertising Agency. Limited, Wellington, who returned by the Monowai from a business trip to tho United States and Canada.
"I was frankly surprised at the number of Americans who expressed a desire to visit New Zealand one day," said Mr. Cody. "Many had heard about our scenery, others had seen literature about this country, a few had read Sir. Zane Grey's book on the Dominion, and a surprisingly large number had perused copies of the weekly and Christmas editions of the Auckland Weekly News.
"The president of a prominent Californiari tourist organisation told me that, in response to a questionnaire sent out by his company to people all over the United States, New Zealand proved to be the fourth on the list of countries people wanted to visit. In fact, it is this particular man's intention to visit New Zealand shortly, as he ' forsees a considerable increase in the tourist traffic to this country. I am convinced of the latent possibilities of tourist business in the United JSlates, which await stimulation by sustained and well-directed propaganda, in addition to something in the nature of a sales organisation to complete bookings on a business basis."
