TYPHOID FEVER CASES.

CONCERN IN OAMARU.

[BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT. ] OAMARU, Monday.

Some concern was felt in Oarnaru early last week through an outbreak of typhoid fever in the borough. Within a space of three days four definitely defined and four suspected cases were admitted to the hospital. During the preceding week one case, the first of the outbreak, proved fatal. During the week-end no fresh cases were admitted, and it is hoped that the bitterly cold weather is keeping the outbreak in check

The health authorities have made an exhaustive investigation, and Dr. Cook, medical officer of health for Otago, visited Oarnaru. . No official announcement has yet been made in connection with the source of the trouble.
