FARMERS' UNION. A meeting of the Putaruru branch was held recently. On the motion of several members the sum of £4 from the general fund was set aside to purchase materials to make garments for families of unemployed men. Mesdames Robinson, Topdell and Ilenshaw were elected to arrange for buying and cutting out material. It '-was arranged that the next meeting should take the form of a social afternoon with* music, competitions, etc., each member being asked to bring a friend. Mr. Jarrctt, Government poultry instructor, gave a very interesting address on poul-try-keeping," which was much appreciated. Afternoon tea was served by Mrs. Van Veen, Mrs. Kail and Mrs. Morrison.
