EFFECT OF LOWER WAGES.
IN FORCE FROM AUGUST I.
A decision to reduce the price of gaS to the extent of £14,000 a year in order to allow the public the benefit of the recent wage reductions has been made by the directors of the Auckland Gas Company, Limited. From August 1> a reduction of 3d a thousand cubic feet beyond the first 1000 ft. consumed in a month on each meter will bo in force, the saving bieing brought about by increasing the discount allowed to consumers as shown on their accounts. The retail prices of coke are to be. lowered by 10s a ton.
