HOUSEBREAKING CHARGE.
MECHANIC ADMITS OFFENCE.
A charge of breaking and entering a house in Mount Hobson E.oad, Remuera, and stealing a diamond ring valued at £SO was preferred against Peginald Charles Gordon, aged 30, mechanic (Mr. Noble), in the Police Court yesterday. Louisa Hargreaves said that on the afternoon of February 19 she left her home securely locked up. Returning later in the day witness discovered that a dog, which had been left inside the house, was cutside. She made an investigation and found that a diamond-cluster ring had been stolen from a jewel case in a bedroom. Nothing else was missing and apart from the dog being outside there was nothing to indicate (hat the house had been entered.
In a voluntary written statement pro iduced by Detective Allen accused ad mitted the offence.
The magistrate, Mr. F. K. Hunt, committed accused, who pleaded guilty, to the Supreme Court for sentence.
