GENERAL ELECTION.
THE HURUNU! SEAT. NOMINATION OF CANDIDATE. The nomination of Mr. W. T. Lindsay, as the Reform candidate for the Hurunui seat —now held by the Prime Minister —was decided upon at a meeting of about forty supporters of the party held at Hawarden last week. The nomination will be submitted to the executive of the party. . Mr. Lindsay, in expressing thanks tor the nomination, said he had agreed to his name going forward at the request of many residents of the district, and he felt that be had a public duty to perform.. He thought that the present Government , had made no energetic move on behalf of the farmers, especially on the matter of cheaper money and on the question of wheat duties. He was convinced that the time had come for a change in the Government. He wanted to feel that he had behind him the enthusiastic support of all Reformers in the district. If he were selected for the seat, he would put up a good fight at the election. Mr. Lindsay has lived in the Waikari district for a great many years, during which time he has been clerk to the Waipara County Council. He is well known and very popular in the district. He has served on school committees and has been active in social work.
