ORDAINED AS PRIEST.

REV. FRANCIS BENNETT. CEREMONY AT ST; PATRICK'S

The ordination to the priesthood of the Rev. Francis Bennett took place at the 9 a.m. celebration of Mass in St. Patrick's Cathedral yesterday. "Bishop Liston performed the ordination in the presence of a large congregation, and was assisted by Dr. Buxton and Father K'McKeefrey, with Archdeacon 11. HolbrooK acting as archpriest. After the Mass the newlyordained priest gave his blessing to the congregation. At the afternoon devotions in the cathedral Bishop Liston preached on the dignity of the priesthood and the privilege of the priestly vocation. He specially complimented Father Bennett's parents, who have now given two sons to the priesthood, while a third is studying at the Maris), Seminary at ; Greenmeadows and a'fourth is at the Marist Juniorate at Tuakau.

The solemn benediction was given by the newly-ordained priest, assisted by Bishop Liston and by his brother, Father A. Bennett, of St. Benedict's, and Father Pavlinovich.

In the evening Father F. Bennett officiated at St. Benedict's. This morning he will celebrate his first Mass at the Sacred Heart College, of which he is an old boy. - .
