WEEK-END ATTRACTIONS.
MANY ATHLETIC FIXTURES. THEATRES AND CABARETS. Numerous attractions,' athletic contests, theatres, cabarets and concerts, have been, arranged for the week-end. ,Tho Auckland Winter Exhibition at the Central Wharf, which will be open all to-day, and this evening, is. expected to attract a large number of visitors, and theatre proprietors have arranged for special programmes to bo given.. The Municipal Band will give a concert in the Town Hall this.evening and will also play at .the Zoological Park to-morrow afternoon. The city organist, Mr. Maughan Barnett, will give a recital in the Town Hall to-morrow afternoon. In addition, the many cabarets in the city and siiburbs will be open this evening. Rugby enthusiasts will be provided with the first representative match of the season to-day, when an Auckland B team will try conclusions with South Auckland at Eden Park, commencing at three o'clock. Senior championship matches in League, soccer and hockey will be continued this afternoon.
■ Two. teams representing tho Auckland Golf Club will play the first of tho two annual matches against' the Hamilton Club at Hamilton, and qualifying rounds of championships are to be held by the Glendowie, Akarana and Waitemata Clubs. The. usual athletic and cycle events will bo decided, and one of the principal attractions in this connection will be an inter-club harrier race at Onehunga between teams representing the University and Technical Old Boys' Clubs. A match of considerable interest to followers of basketball is the representative fixture between Auckland and Wellington, which will be decided a;t the Training College No'. 3 ground, Mount Eden, at 2.30 p.m. The contest is for the New Zealand Cup, which is at present held by Auckland.
