HITLER AND HUGENBERG:
DECISION TO JOIN FORCES. (Received July 10, 9.15 p.m.) BERLIN, July 9. As the result of a long conference with Herr Hitler, Dr. Hugenberg, the newspaper and film magnate, and the leader of the Nationalist Party, has decided to join forces with Herr Hitler's party, the Nazis, against the Government. Dr. Alfred Hugenberg was elected president of the National People's Party, in succession to Count Westarp, in October, 1928. This denoted a triumph for the extremists' party. Horr Hugenberg owns scores of newspapers throughout Germany. He is a bitter opponent of the Republic, the policy of an understanding with France, the Treaty of Locarno and the Treaty of Versailles. He is also the man behind the Nationalists' Steel Helmet organisation and the leader of the German Fascists.
