renouncement possible.
RULING BY MUSSOLINI. CIVIL SERVANTS AFFECTED. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. (Received July 10, 7.45 p.m.) , ROME, July 10. The Prime Minister, Signor Mussolini, has ruled that membership of the Fascist Party is incompatible with membership of the Roman Catholic Action Society. It is authoritatively stated that Italy will shortly renounce the concordat with the Vatican, in accordance with public opinion, which is at present overwhelmingly in favour of ending the concordat. Already 50,000 of t lie 150,000 persons who were members of both parties have resigned their membership of the Roman ■Catholic Action Society. J For weeks past people have been writing to Pope Pius, asking for advice, as they were threatened with dismissal from their Government positions unless they left the Catholic Action movement. The Pope says he understands that men must live and support their families and he will not interfere so long as they remain Roman Catholics at heart. . ■,
