EARTHQUAKE SUFFERERS.
REHABILITATION CLAIMS.

The first batch of applications to the Rehabilitation Committee is in the hands of the Government valuation officer, at present in Hawke's Bay district. As soon as the necessary investigations aro completed a meeting of the committee will be called to finally dispose of them. When applications for assistance were first called for the response was not very great, but in the past few weeks they have been received in great numbers. An endeavour has been made to sort out the less complex claims and these will receive consideration first. According to the chairman of the committee, Mr. J. S. Barton, it will be some considerable time before a good proportion of the claims are disposed of-
