Suppliers of the Cambridgo Co-opeis-tivo Dairy Company, Limited, will re r teivo advance payments at the rate of lid per lb. butter-fat for cheese making, and lOd per. lb. for butler making for supplies received during May. The total disbursement vrill be £SS6O, ft dccieaso of £2310 on that distributed for May, 1930, when the rates of advance were lid per lb. for choeso and Is 3d per lb. for butter.

Tho total payments made this season by tho Cambiidge company amount to £178,400, compared whh £280,200 for (ho previous season. Thcro has been au increase in production of 5 per cent. Tho Tokoroa Co-operalivo Dairy Company, Limited, will advance £4Bl to suppliers at tho rate of Sd per lb. butterfat. For (ho < orresponding month of last vear, Is per I'u. was advanced, the total being £833. Tho amount of butter-fat supplied during tho month, 14,5051b., showed a dccreaso of 21581b.

An advance of 10d per lb. on the 32,4941b. of butter-fat, received will be made by the Tatua Co-operative Daily Company, Limited. For tho May supply last year, when £2870 was distributed, the advance payment was Is 6d per 11a. for the 38,2721b. of butter-fat handled.

The average price for finest butter-fat with deferred payment and dividend, to suppliers of the Hiknrangi Dairy Company for the season just closed is 12.95 d, not 12d as previously stated. On June 20 the company will distribute £3549 among its suppliers, being payment at the rate of lid per lb. superfine for butterfat supplied during May. On July 20 the company will distribute approximately £9OOO. being deferred payments. This will bring the average payment for the season up to 12.95 d per lb.

The Meat Producers' Board announces a further reduction in the freight rate on tallow to tho United Kingdom, the new rate as from July 1 being 67s 6d a ton. A reduction has also been made in the freight rate on casings from 100s to 90s a ton as from July 1. All the rates named arc plus tho usual primage.

BUTTER AND CHEESE.

IMPROVEMENT LOOKED FOR

An optimistic view of the future for the butter and cheese markets is taken by A. H. Turnbull and Company, Limited, in a review of tho position, published under date Juno 12.

Largely owing to a backward spring in tho Northern Hemisphere, together with tho fact that butter stocks in the United Kingdom are small, prices for all grades of butter advanced sharply throughout tho month of May, states the review. The first week in June brought an increase in Danish supplies and quotations dropped. The future is somewhat uncertain and depends largely upon weather conditions and the attitude of tho large buyers with regard to forward purchases. Tho quantity of butter duo to arrive at London during Juno, July and August is well above last year's figures. r lhe slock position is Still very sound, however, and a steadily improving market is looked for. The switch-over from cheese to butter has caused a considerable change in the statistical position of cheese. Tho estimated arrivals of cheese during June, July and August are some 81)00 tonsi less than for tho same period last year. However, tho cheese stocks available in London at tho present finio are somo 4000 tons in excess of tho quantities' available at tho samo timo last year. Cheese has shown a considerable improvement throughout the month and the latest ad- : vices are tliat tlio market is still firm. The Now Zealand Producers' Co-opera-tive Marketing Association, Limited, has received the following cablegram from London:—Tho butter market is quiet. New Zealand, 110s to Ills; Danish, 118# to 119s. The cheese market is quiet* White, 53s to 555; coloured, 56s to 58s.

Tho second annual report of tho Consolidated Brick and Pipe Investments, Limited, for the year ended May 31 shows (v net profit of "£28,528, compared with £21,641 last year. An interim dividend of 3 per cent, in November absorbed £15.721, and it is now proposed to pav a final dividend of 2 per cent., absorbing £11,162, and leavinpr, with tho amount brought forward, ft total of £2340 to carry into tho next year's accounts. Tho directors' report states that tho assets of the company's subsidiaries are in first-class order, tho sum of £12,350 having been spent on repairs during tho year ended March 31, and tho sum of £22,206 provided and written off as depreciation. During tho year Messrs. A. Crum, J.' Murphy, G. W. Hutchison and IL P. F. Blundoll wero appointed to tho directorate.
