HERALD'S SPECIAL FORECAST. STORMY, WITH HEAVY RAIN. The following weather forecast for 24 hours from 7 a.m. to-cl;iy was supplied by Mr. 11. M. Vincent last evening:—A small cyclono is centred north-westward of the Dominion and is moving on to the Auckland Peninsula. Expect unsettled, boisterous weather, wit li rain in most districts, heavy in North Auckland and along the east coast. Temperatures will bccomo colder generally. Northerly to north-easterly winds, strong to gale, backing by west to south. Rough seas on the east coast, and becoming rough southward from Capo Egrnont. Local outlook:—Stormy, with heavy rain. Barometer, midnight, fulling .. 29.65!n. Midnight, Monday .. 29.951(1. Temperature in shade yesterday (to midnight)— Maximum. 59deg.; Minimum. 51deg. GOVERNMENT REPORT. Tito Government meteorologist reported last evening as follows:-—A cyclono is moving eastward past tho northern extremity of tho Dominion. An intense anticyclone is centred over south-eastern Australia and extends toward tho South Island. Indications aro for strong northeasterly winds north of Auckland, veering gradually lo south-westerly, elsewhere moderate south-easterly to south-westerly winds, increasing generally and later rising lo galo force at, places about and north of Cook Strait. Seas becoming rough north of Farewell Spit and Akaroa, elsewhere moderate. Moderate to strong south-easterly lo southerly winds in tho eastern Tasman Sea. Seas rough in tho central and northern portions and moderate in tho southern. Tho weather will bo mainly fair in western districts of tho South island and in Otago and Southland, elsewhere unsettled, with some rain, and heavy falls in northern and north-eastern areas. Cold temporal tires.
