BREAKDOWN OF LAUNCH.
ADRIFT IN THE HARBOUR. GROUNDING NARROWLY AVERTED When the launch Great Hope was returning from a fishing cruise in tho Hauraki Gulf she experienced engine trouble and narrowly escaped grounding at tho North Head shortly after eight o'clock last evening. Her plight was noticed by the master of the Auckland Harbour Board's pilot launch Waitemata, which immediately went to her assistance and pulled her into deeper waters. Tho two men comprising tho crew of the Great Hope* declined to be towed into port by the Waitemata, and, rigging an improvised sail, they made their way to a point off the King's Wharf. Tho launch appeared to have some difficulty in making an anchorage, and members of the waterfront police went out to her in another launch, but help was not required.
