PLAYBOX DRAMATIC CLUB.
Members of the newly-formed Playbox Dramatic Club gave a very successful reading of St. John Hankin's comedydrama, "The Cassillis Engagement," at Mrs. Russell-Wood's residence in Mount Street on Monday evening. The -central figure of the play, Mrs. Cassillis, was cleverly takon by Miss Nell Lush, who was well supported by a strong cast consisting of the following:—The Countess of Demenham, read by Mrs. E. B. Lovell; Lady Marchmond, Miss Hope Asher; Mrs. Herries, Miss Maud Regan; Lady Mabel Venning, Miss Hazel Morrison; Mrs. Borridge, Miss Ashley Jukes; Ethel Borridge, Miss Iris, Scott-lligginson; Dorset (maid), Miss Hilda Gavey; Rev. Hildebrand Herries, Mr. Russell-Wood; Geoffrey Cassillis, Mr. Allan Harker; Major Warrington, Mr. P. C. Garrett. At the conclusion of the reading parts were allotted for "The Lilies of the Field," J. Hastings Tumor's three-act comedy, which will be read at the next meeting of the club. Supper concluded a very enjoyable evening.
