WHANGAREI BOROUGH.
CONCRETE FOOTPATHS. COUNCIL'S POLICY FIXED. [from our own correspondent.] "WJiANGATtEI, Tuesday. Tlie Whangarei Borough Council at its meeting last evening adopted a policy in regard to the future construction of concrete footpaths. It was decided that footpaths Lo formed as funds become available, that tho owners of property fronting such concrete footpaths should be called upon to pay the cost of any crossings, priority (o be given to those streets not at present served by a reasonable footpath and carrying a considerable amount of traffic, and that a list be prepared of tho two streets -which most need a concrete footpath, and as each such footpath is completed another street lie added to the list.
.The borough estimates for tho year were further considered and passed without alteration.
Tho Electrical Committee recommended that time switches be installed on all electric wator heaters, the council to bear tho installation cast and a charge of 2s 6d a month bo made to consumers. An amendment was carried altering the charge of 2s 6d to Is 6d. A meeting of the Finance Committee, which consists of the whole council, is to bo held at an early date to consider the question of salaries, wages and allowances affecting tho borough.
