MOUNT ALBERT STREETS.
ORDER OF RECONSTRUCTION. MATTER TO BE SETTLED. ' A motion calling for the preparation of a definite schedule of street construction works was moved by Mr. R. Ferner at the meeting o£ the Mount Albert Borough Council last evening. The motion was to the effect that the council should proceed to settle the order in which the permanent completion or reconstruction of the roads still to be dealt vrith under the 1926 loan should be undertaken. A report should be submitted by the Works Committee, acting in conjunction with the engineer. In settling the order, continued the motion, the committee should have regard to the comparative density of traffic, the number of buildings per chain along each road, the comparative cost of reconstruction, the condition of the roads and the economies likely to be gained. A definite decision now would enable a far-sighted view to be taken of the various claims and would avoid undue pressure by particular interests.
The motion was carried unanimously. An objection raised by Mr. B. Brigham on a point of order caused the rejection of a motion which Mr. F- A. Jarrett had. given notice of his intention to move. This was expressive,of no-confidence in the Purchasing Committee, and demanded the appointment of a new one after the motion appointing the present members had been rescinded. The Mayor, Mr. W. F. Stilwell. raid seven clear days' notice must be given in calling a meeting for the discussion of a motion to rescind a previous resolution. This had not been done and the motion could not be accepted.
