NEW PRESBYTERY FORMED.
SOUTH AUCKLAND AREA. FIRST SITTING YESTERDAY. ' Tlic first sitting of the newly-created South Auckland Presbytery, which comprises the churches of Papatoetoe, Papa.kura, Clevedon, Driiry, Bombay, Pukekobe aiid Waiuku, and the' home missionary. charges of Manurewa, Hunua, Mauk'u, A\yhitu, and Pokeno, wais held at Papakura yesterday. Ministers and elders were present from, all charges. • The Moderator of the Auckland Presbytery, Mr. S. J: Harbutt, the Rev. D. D. Scott, clerk of the. Auckland. Presbytery, the Rev. L. H Graham, of Mount. Eden, and tho Rev. W. Gilniour, of Edendale, were also present. The senior minister, Rev. J. Pattison, of Pukekohe, presided. In congratulating the new presbytery, Mr. Harbutt said tlio Auckland Presbytery was sorry, to lose tho South Auckland members, but they realised that the constitution of the new presbytery would be of great benefit to tho Church in the South Auckland district. Its development would be more easily assisted, and the movement that had led to its creation had been only natural and right. Tho following officers were elected:— Moderator, Rev. T. H. Rosavearo (Papatoetoe); clerk, Rev. S. C. Francis (Clevedon) ; treasurer, Mr. J. R. Wilson (Papa:kura); committee on standing committees, Rev. Roseveare, Rev. Francis and Rev. J. 11. Breden.
After tho meeting tho members of. tho presbytery and visitors were entertained to afternoon tea by the members of the Papakura branch of tho Presbyterian •Women's Missionary Union. ■ Tho South Auckland, district is the fpul'th to have Separated from, the Auckland Presbytery during the. past 20 years, Waikato, Bay of Plenty and North Auckland havo preceded it.
