MATSON MAIL LINERS.
NEW PACIFIC SERVICE. A representative of the Matson Line of steamers, Mr. N. S- .Walker, of Melbourne, arrived by tho Marama at Auck-i land yesterday. Tho Matson Line, an American company, will shortly commence a regular servico between San Francisco • and Australia and New • Zealand. Mr. Walker will act as passenger 'representative at. Auckland, with offices' in Mari-, time Buildings, Quay Street. Arrangements had been made for a three-weekly mail and passenger -service. The vessels will load at San Francisco and Los Angeles, and will sail for Sydney, via ports. The. ports of call will bo Honolulu, Pago Pago, Suva, Auckland : ,and Sydney.Tho service "will ; bo inaugurated by tho Sonoma, which will leave Los Angeles on July 2. Sho is duo at Auckland on Friday, July 24, and will sail for Sydney on the same day." Sonoma is duo at Sydney on the following" Tuesday, and will sail on tho return journey on August 4, arriving at Auckland on August 8, and leaving for Los Angeles tho same day. The service will be conducted with three liners; the" Sonoma,' Ventura"nut!' Sierra.; Later, liners built especially for the purpose will take up the service*' •
