WAITOMO BOARD'S RATES. CONCESSION .OF £9oo' A .'YEAR. [from ottr own correspondent..] TE KTJITI, Tuesday. A total estimated concession to consumers of £9OO a year was decided on by the Waitomo EJectric-P.QW.tr. Board by tho following reduction in charges:— Lighting, by id to 9jd; abolition -of the fuse maintenance charge of 6d a month; motors, by £1 per horse powerl The country minimum was also reduced to ss. a month and flat rate charges to farmers are to be collected now over eight months of the year, instead of one month. The question of adopting a unit basis of charging for country consumers instead of the flat rate charge was discussed at length, but no action was taken.
It was decided to adopt the recommendations of a special committee to continue with trading,' but on a consignment policy on such" articles as might' lie quired for serving' consumers. • As_ far as wiring is '-concerned, it was decided that the board should continue to .act until such time as the present wiring, stock was reduced or disposed of.
In regard to the proposal of the Wai-; rer.e Board that a joint deputation should be sent to 'Wellington concerning the merger proposal, it was decided to join with Wairero in communicating with the department bv correspondence rather than by deputation. •
