PRIZE FOR ECONOMICS.
TWO CANDIDATES DIVIDE. The award of the A Hum prize for a paper on economics will be divided bv the Auckland University College Council this year between two candidates. Those successful are Miss Margaret Mawson, whoso subject was " The Manufacture of Hats in -New Zealand," and Mr. J. L. J. Wilson; who wrote on " ElectricPower Distributing Authorities, in New Zealand." Tlie awards were approved by the council yesterday afternoon on the recom-mendation-of the Professor of Economics, Professor H. Belshaw.
