A message from Roubaix -slates that tlio.ro was a recrudescence of the rioting when 300 Communis!s. whom the police had prevented from demonstrating, reassembled in another part of Urn citv. where they smashed the street lamps and looted shop windows of (heir contents. The mob barricaded iho streets and stoned firemen who were attempting to destroy the barricades. Later the Communists wrecked motor showrooms and dragged the cars into the streets, where they set them on fire. Cavalry, on arriving to •disperse the mob, received a shower of missiles, which injured three men. The rioting continued until dawn. Forty arrests have been made.
The mob finally numbered 1000, and the chief of police called on them lo disperse. The Communists, replied'with volleys of cobble stones. Ono stono struck the chief, who was severely injured. Mounted polico repeatedly charged until 3 a.m. The mob set fire to several shops and prevented the firemen from extinguishing them.
