VICTORY FOR UNOCO. WEE PRINCE BEATS SNOW LAP. LAST RACE TO VALUELESS. Six recent recruits to the jumping brigado camo out fur the Maiden Hurdles. On the strength of a promising effort at Ellerslie Coohnint wiis made a strong favourite, hut ho was beaten into third plnco after having every chance. Coolniint led over the first fence, when he was joined bv Unoco, the others being strung out. Unoco went, to the front along the hack and. although Coolniint k*pt handy until near ins the home turn. Unoco came away in tho straight to win by eight lengths from Nussock. Coolniint was seven lengths away third and Nasuone was fourth Palmares was a long way back and Production was pulled up. Unoco won well, but Coolniint disappointed. N'assock plodded on at the finish arid he may make good with experience.

Snow Lap and Wee Prince were best bncked for t'ne Maiden Plate Handicap and they filled the dividend-places in reverse order. Book Law and Abbey Fair were troublesome at the post and both got away badly. Wee Prince received the best of tho s:art and led for about three furlongs from All Soult and Snow Lap. Book Law then went up fast and had a short turn in the lend. Weo Prince assumed command again at the turu and he stayed on to win by a length from Snow Lap. All Soult was six lengths away third, and Book Law- was fourth. It was a weak field, but Wee Prince was all out to win. Book Law displayed speed and may improve next season. Two-Horse Hurdles Race. With only Antrim Boy and Manetizo to contest the Victoria Hurdles. speculation on the race was slack, and Monetize wound up a £5 better favourite than his rival. Monetize led for about five furlongs, when Antrim Boy drew level. They raced almost abreast then until the last fence, where Monetize drew out to win by just over a length. It was a good race between two horses and Monetize, with his pull in the weights, finished on more strongly than Antrim Boy. Two scratching reduced '.he field for tho Hamilton Steeplechase to five and in an even belting race Copey and Star Comet were the favourites. Spalpiko carried on tho early running from ' Star Comet and. St. Warrigal, with Copey and Pendaviea in the rear. There was littlo between Spalpiko, St. Warrigal and Star Comet the second time, end when they turned along the back Spalpiko and St. W'arrigal were out several lengths from Star Comet, who nearly fell at the post and rails. Star Comet fell at the fence near the fivefurlongs poat. Shortly afterwards Spalpiko began to tire and St. Warrigal then drew away to win by five lengths from Copey. Pendavies was 10 lengths away third, and Spalpiko wc.s fourth. St. Warrigal won well at (be finis':i and hnd no difficulty in beating Copey, who made a game effort over tho last six furlongs. The Chief Flat Event. A fine finish in the. Hillside Handicap saw Little Doubt finish well on tho rails to just win from Valroo and Te Hoia. The wagering on the race was fairly even, and there was most support for Valroe and Little Doubt. Te Hoia, Trishna and Valroe were first to show out, but the field raced in close company for over two furlongs before Prince of Orange ran to the lead from Valroe, Ruffles Paddon, Flying Prince. Little Doubt and Te Hoia. Valroe ran to tho lead after passing the half-mile and he led into the straight from Prince of Orange. Flying Prince. Ruffles. Te Hoia and Little Doubt. Once they straightened up Te Hoia came dn the outside and was almost level with Valroe at the distance, where Little Doubt was up handy on the rails. Little Doubt finished on very strongly ano won by half a length from Valrae, who defeated Te Hoia by a similar margin. Ruifles was fourth, sue-

ceeded by Trishna and Flying Prince. Little Doubt confirmed his good form on the first day and again won well. Valroe ran another good race. To Hoia also made a solid showing but was beaten on his merits. Tradesman's Easy Win. There t.as a big surprise in the Suburban Handicap, when Tradesman led all the way to return a doublo figure dividend. Gay Lap was a hot favourite, with Kingfield also heavily backed, but Tradesman never gave them a chance. ARRIVING ON THURSDAY. R. A. McMillan will arrive from Tanialiere on Thursday with a team of five pacors to take part in the Auckland winter fixture. The string includes Daytimo, Te Wnhia, First Fligh' and Little Guy, all of whom are engaged in events on the opening dny The remaining member of the team will probably be Enawah. who figures in the Adams Memorial Cup entries for the concluding day. First Flight, Little Guy and Daytime have had recent racing and should be well forward for their engagements. First Flight ran three consecutive seconds in comtry cup races and her mission may be the Ilobson Handicap. Little Guy won over a mile and a-quarter at Te Aroha and finished second in the mile at the last Waikalo meeting. WHITE SATIN COMING. MR. G. McMILLAN'S TROTTER.
