HOW ONE OF THEM WON. Mr. IT. Chidgev, chairman of the council nt Minehead, England, was at a recent meeting suddenly called on to givo his casting voto on (he question whether Miss V. C. Sharpe, the only woman member,should act on a certain committee or one of the other members. The chairman, in his dilemma, said if tossing in the council chamber were legal he would toss for it. He took a coin from his pocket. Miss Sharpe immediately objected. Sho said the question was far too important to be settled by the spin of a coin. The chairman returned the coin to his pocket and asked the council to vote again. This time Miss Sharpe won.
