ACTIVITIES OF ORDERS. INSTALLATIONS AND SOCIALS. A largo gathering of Odd Follows witnessed <ho presentation of the Ritual Shield to tho Myrtle Robekah Lodge at the Pitt Street Hall on Thursday last. The newly-installed L.D.D.G.M., Sister Boles, and suite were introduced by Sister Tail by, P.L.D.D.G.M., and warmly •welcomed by the lodge. By tho request of Sister Boles, the shield was presented bv Sister Tailby, who congratulated lior mother lodge upon its achievement and expressed appreciation of the honour conferred upon her. The jewel for the P.N.G.'s charge, presented by Bro. and Sister Tailby. was won by and presented to Sister Harding. Sister Cameron received the vice-grand's jewel to be worn for the first three months of tile ensuing term, after which it will be presented to Sister Smith, who tied with her in the competition. The J. Hoffman jewel, for tho best rendering of the conductor's charge, was won by a junior member, Sister Wilson. Congratulations and fraternal' greetings were received from the representatives of the visiting lodges. During the evening a past, grand's certificate was presented to Sister J. Hoffman, for which she expressed appreciation and thanks to the lodge. A tea cosy competition was won by Sister (.J. Carr. Tho serving of a dainty supper brought a very pleasant evening to a close. Tho Xgaruawahia Lodge, U.A.0.D., held its annual social and ladies' night oil Thursday last, a good muster of members being in attendance. The floor was in excellent condition for dancing whilo tho music was rendered by Miss Menzies' orchestra. Tho Monte Carlo waltz was won by Miss Rayner and Mr. Griffiths. For those not dancing, five tables of euchro woro provided, prizes being won by -Mr. and Mrs. Spiers. The whole function was a decided success. The Otahuhu Lodge, No. 147, 1.0.0. F., met on Wednesday last, a fair attendance being presided over l>y the noble giand, Bro. J. Pollard. Arrangements were made for several inter-lodge visits, and a challenge issued to Aroatea to play for tho Wiseman Cup. Tho business of the evening was quickly dealt with, after which bowls were played. One particularly exciting match was that between rinks skipped by P.G.'s Bros. Bey and Bond. Tho former won on the last bowl. The Devonport Lodge, U.A.0.D., held its quarterly meeting on Wednesday last in tho Victoria Hall, Bro. F. Powell, A.IX, presiding. This being tho night set apart for tho nomination and election of officers, it was very encouraging to see tho lodge room well filled and to seo the keen competition for tho different chairs. In mora than ono instance, a second ballot was necessary before tho chosen candidate was found. Ono new member received initiation, tho ceremony being conducted in an excellent manner by the retiring officers. The following were chosen to guido the, destinies of the lodgo for tho new term: —J.P.A., Bro. I'. Powell; A.D., Bro. F. Hewitt; V.A., Bro. A. B. King; 1.G., Bro. G. Lyon; 0.G., Bro. W. Smith; A.D.B.'s, Bros. McKcllow and R. Langton; pianist, Bro. L. Cusworth; V.A.B.'s, Bros. Fullerton and E. Davis; minute secretary, Bro. I{." Johnston, P.A.; stewards, Bro. W. Smith and Sisters F. Robinson nnd M. Hewitt; auditor, Bro. Johnston; librarian, Sister Hewitt. A strong committee was set up to run the bowls, and also a strong social committee. Tho lodgo room of the Eden 'lent, 1.0. R., presented an animated appealance on Monday last, when members from all over the district gathered to tako part in tho second round of tho Pascoo Cup bowling competition. Tho piny during the evening was always interesting, most of the teams being evenly matched. One or two surprises took place. 'J here are still several more rounds to be played and tho competition being so Keenly fought out the final result cannot yet bo oven forecasted. Tho serving of supper by tho Eden members helped toward tho enjoyment of a very pleasant evening. Tho Endeavour Lodge, 1.0. G.T., niet last Wednesday \n tho Druids' Hall Newton, tho C.T., Bro. Watts, presiding over a good attendance. Regret was expressed at the absence of Bro. R. Wilson, lodgo deputy, and Sister Wilson. Ordinary routine business was speedily dealt with. Arrangements were finalised for the holding of a preliminary meeting at Onehunga to arrange for the opening of a lodge in that district. The announcement was made that a visit would bo received next lodge night from tho Dominion Road Methodist \oung Women's Class, who were to provide the entertainment for tho evening. The members decided to make it a pound night in order to entertain their guests. At. tho close of the business, a very enjoyable topical talk was held. Tho Alberta Lodge, No. 53, 1.0.0.F.. has suffered an unprecedented loss of old members through transfer and other circumstances not to be controlled, and tho lodge has had to consider ways and means of counteracting tho apparent stagnation that has set in. A very full programme has been laid down and its results have already been shown in increased attendance at tho meetings. On Thursday Bro. K. C. Griffiths, N.G., presided over a meeting and welcomed tho D D.G.M., Bro. 0. E. Johnson, tho N.G. of Otahuhu Lodgo, Bro. Pollard, a visitor from the Epsom Lodge, and other visitors. Business being disposed of at an early hour tho members and friends concerned themselves with tho games provided, bowls, ping pong, quoits, etc. At tho conclusion of supper congratulatory and fraternal speeches were exchanged. The installation of officers of the Loyal Dominion Lodgo, M.U.1.0.0.1'., took placo on Tuesday evening, when there were present a large number of members, members of sister lodges, and representatives of the Laurel Robekah and Star of Avondalo Lodges, 1.0.0. F. The duties of installing master were ably performed by P.G., Bro. Parry, and the officers who now occupy the various chairs for the. forthcoming term are; —N.G., Sister 0. Perkins; V.G., Bro. H. McKenzie; 1.P.N.G., Bro. N. Owen; lecturo master, P.O. Parry; elective secretary, Bro. I'. Stubbing; warden, Sister Jellard. At the conclusion of the installation cerenionv supper was served, and vocal and elocutionary items and dancing wore thoroughly enjoyed.
