The annual meeting of the To A walnut u Beautifying Society, which has effected a ritiinlier of improvements to the town's reserves during t\lie year, elected the following officers: —Patron, Mr. C. G. Downes; president, Dr. J. 15. W. Roborton; vice-presidents, MrS* R. Dawson and Mr. C. W. Rickit; secretary and treasurer, Mr. D. Bockclt; committee, Mesdarnes Downes, W. Locke, Davis, Rickit, J. Oliphant, Misses Bockett and Lawry, and Messrs. A. .J. Shepherd, M. It. Williams, W. IT. Davis, W. Jeffery, X. McAlister, .1. (j. Reidpath and 11. ('. Rainoy; auditor, Mr. G. 0. Jourdain. Representatives on the executive will he appointed by the Rorough Council, the Horticultural Society and the Returned Soldiers' Association. The society has a credit balance, and has beautified a section leased at a peppercorn rental adjoining the railway station. The war memorial site and neighbourhood has been converted into flower plots, the Cambridge Road triangle has been greatly improved, and in other parts of the. borough considerable work has been done.
