Mrs. Cory-Wright, owing to her recent bereavement, will not be at home at Claybrook, Parnell, unLil the end of the month. Miss Ruth Manning, of Christchurch, arrived yesterday on a visit to Auckland, and is the guest of Mrs. F. W. Wilson,' Mountain Road, Epsom. Aliss Mildred Russell, of Christchurch, who has been the guest of her sister, Mrs. W. H. It. Teapo, of Waiuku, since her return from Sydney, left on her return to Christchurch this week. A well-attended whist drive was held in Ihe Orient Tearooms, Newmarket on Wednesday by the Cornish Association. The prize-winners were Airs. O'Connor, D. Storey, Aliss Alacky, Mrs. Love, Airs. Hay, Air. AlcEvoy, Air. Pooley and Air. W. J. Tucker. Tlio United Croquet Club held a bridge afternoon in the J.C.L. Tearooms on Thursday, and a very bright and enjoyable time was spent. Airs. Powley, president, received the guests and also presented the prizes. r lhe winners for bridge were Airs. Alcßride, Airs. Watson, and Airs. Lane. The prize for five hundred was won by Airs.
