UNITED PARTY INTERESTS. CANDIDATE FOR MANUKAU. Mr. M. J. Moore, of Onchunga, has been selected as tho official candidate to contest tho Manukau seat at tho general election in tho interests of tho United Tarty. The Auckland executive of the party lias decided also to recommend tho selection of Mr. C. T. Harkness as the United candidate for Franklin. Mr. Moore, who is 37 years of ago, is in business at Onchunga as a land agent and auctioneer. Ho is a member of tlio Onchunga Borough Council, and has been secretary to tho Mangoro Cemetery trustees for 13 years. For about eight years ho was secretary Of tho Mangero Domain Board. At ono time ho was amateur champion light-weight boxor of Now Zealand and Australia. Mr. Harkness, who is farming at Waiuku, was at ono time a member of tho Horowhonua County Council and of tho Wellington Education Board. Ho unsuccessfully contested tho Otaki seat as a Nationalist in 1925. LABOUR CANDIDATES. SELECTIONS IN 38 CASES. [BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] BLENHEIM, Friday. Mr. Walter Nash, secretary of tho Labour Party, stated to-day that LaLour candidates had already beon selected to contost 38 soats at the general election and arrangements were under way for tho selection of other candidates. Waite, the present Reform member, and Mr. P. McSkimming, announced as the United Party candidate, . three others are mentioned as likely to stand. Mr. Joseph Stephens will probably bo the Labour candidate, while Mr. J. R. Wilson, lato chairman of tho Clutha County Council, and Mr. John Christiearo also Mentioned as candidates, tho former as an Independent, and tho latter as a Liberal-Labour advocate.
