POSITIONS OF THE TEAMS.

LANCASHIRE DOWN ON LIST.

Tho following table showing the positions of the teams in the English county cricket championship from tho results received up to Saturday last, is interesting in view of the tour of the New Zoalanders in England:—

The system of scoring is as follows:—A win counts 15 points; a tie in a finished match counlß 71 points to each side: a tio in an unfinished match counts 4 points to each side; a win on tho first innings counts 0 points; a losa on the first innings counts 8 points; an unfinished match, where there m no result on the first innings, or no play, 4 points to tach aide.

It ia interesting to note that Lancashire, which won the county championship for tho past two Seasons, is now sixth on the list. Matches played against the universities are not included in the abovo table. In such games no result is achieved on tho first innings, a draw being recorded unless an outright decision is arrived at.

New Zealand's next match is against Cambridge University, and the si Je thon plays Somerset, Gloucestershire and Derbyshire before meeting a minor counties' team,
