FINE PICTORIAL SECTION. MANY TOPICAL ILLUSTRATIONS. Another remarkably fine issue of the Auckland Weekly News is published to-day and once again the excellence of the large illustrated section will command wide attention and universal admiration. All the important happenings of the week throughout the Dominion are recorded in' a most picturesque and up-to-date manner, and there arc several splendid illustrations depicting New Zealand's famed scenic beaut v.
The striking frontispiece is devoted to an excellent series of photographs shoving action snapshots and portraits of the leading players of the New Zealand cricket team during its tour of England which, so far, has been outstandingly successful.
Extremely interesting photographs secured with the British, Australian and New Zealand expedition to Antarctica are combined to make an arresting centre double-page. The pictures show some of the many wonders of the South Polar regions visited and encountered by the expedition, which recently completed a second voyage to Antarctica. Several, photographs included in the ntimber illustrate the activities of tha Governor-General, Lord Bledisloe, during His Excellency's present visit to the North Auckland district. There arc many illustrations showing the natural scenic beauties for which the Soinh Island is famed. Last week's meet uj the I'akuranga Hunt at Drury'is also well illustrated.
A wealth of miscellaneous photographs from far and near arc reproduced on the remaining pages of this interesting issue. The following list of-outstanding subjects will give some idea of their diversity First Dutch air mail liner arrives at' Sydney ; new post' oflice opened at Palmerston, Otago; remedial work at the Araputii hydro-electric works; remarkable balloon ascent to a height of over 10 miles; new Wellington College opened by the Minister of Education;- world blind conference in the United States, attended by New Zealand representative; Wairarapa topics; an excellent bird's-eye view of Rome; shipping activities at earthquakaStricken Napier; weddings of ijote; a hunt meet in the snow amid typical rural English surroundings; Her Majesty Queen Mary in court dress.
