EARLY MORNING EIRE.

* DYE WORKS DESTROYED.

RAPID SPREAD OF FLAMES. MARKET ROAD OUTBREAK. A fire occurred at 1.15 o'clock lliis morning in Porter's dye yjorks in Market Road, Epsom. The building, which was constructed of corrugated iron and was of two storeys, was destroyed. The fire had a good hold when the Parnell and Roniuera brigades arrived. The contents of the building blazed fiercely and the firemen were confronted with an impossible task. At 1.45 the walls collapsed, the contents then being a mass of flames. There were several small explosions of chemicals used in the dyeing processes. The outbreak was a very spectacular one and the flames could be seen from miles around. A large crowd watched the fire ■which was unusually impressive owing to the variety of brilliant colours caused by the combustion of chemicals.
