POWER SUPPLY CUT OFF.
KITE FOULS THE LINES,
WAIKATO AND KING COUNTRY. DANGER OF THE PASTIME. [most OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT. J HAMILTON, Monday. The wliolo of the electric lighting and power service in the "Waikato and King Country districts was thrown out of action for ten minutes on a recent evening through a child's kite coming into contact with the Central Electric-power Board's lines at Huntly. The trouble was located quickly.
Referring to the matter to-day, Mr. T. MacLennan, district electrical engineer, emphasised the great need for care which devolves upon parents in seeing that their children fly their kites well away from power lines. Even if they do this troublo cannot always be averted, for kites which break away from the connecting string sometimes travel long distances before they como to rest.
Kite-flying is looked upon with strong disfavour by everyone connected with the electrical power services.
