BOWLING.
DOMINION COUNCIL MEMBERS ASSOCIATION OF UMPIRES. A meeting of delegates to the Auckland Bowling Centre was held last evening for the purpose of voting for six unofficial members of the Dominion Council. Mr. J. M. Thomson presided. Seven nominations were received and the :result will be known when the votes from other centres are received early next month.. The Onelmnga Club delegate brought up the matter of the formation of an Umpires' Association It was suggested that with such a body matters regarding the rules would be placed on a more satisfactory basis It was further suggested that out of pocket or i.ctual expenses should bo paid to (hope officiating as umpires. Several delegates stressed the need of securing a competent body of umpires if such an association was formed. On the recommendation of Mr. Gladding it was lesolved to circularise clubs with a view to securing a list of names of suitable persons and when this was accomplished the Auckland Centie Executive would entertain the idea of forming an Umpires' Association. Mr. McCallum, Remuera, brought up a point regarding the retirement by rotation or ballot of one sitting member of the Centre Executive each year. He gave notice of motion to this effect and blbo that no club should have moro than one representative on the executive.
