Derbyshire v. Gloucestershire.— Derbyshire: First innings, 100 (Parker six for 41); second innings, 120 (Parker eight for 50). In the League championship final at Wigan Swinton beat Leeds, 14 —7. LAWN TENNIS IN AMERICA. V TILDEN MP:ETS RICHARDS. (Received May 10, 8.5 p.m.) NE\V YORK, May 9. In the icst match of a series for the world's prcicssional lawn tennis cham-' pionship at Madison Square Garden to-day W T "Tilden defeated Vincent Richards, 5—7, 6-0, 6-1, 6—3. The series of five matches is expected to bring to each man about £7OOO. Richards is guaranteed £SOOO. Tilden will take a percentage of the gate money as co-promoter. An additional £2OOO is promised the winner. Tilden has been playing on an average one match every other day since the middle of February, when he started a tour of the country. Richards has had no competition since he won the professional title from Kozeluh last autumn. Tilden and Richards last met in 1926, when Richards defeated Tilden in three of the five matches played. BOWLING- CHAMPIONSHIPS. « NEW SOUTH WALES WINNERS. (Received May 10, 5,5 p.m.) SYDNEY, May 10. The results in the New South Wales howling championships yesterday were as follows:—In the finals of the singles C. A. McNeill (Hamilton), beat G. Gartrell (Chatswood), 31—19. In the pairs, Curtis and Fitzpatrick (Manly) beat Hawks and Wheeler (Dubbo), 21—18. In the teams match D. and O. Oldi rovd, Bartlett and Sharpies (Woonona) * beat Crispe. Pepper, Chase and Howie J (Epping), 24—22.

PUBLIC SCHOOLS ROWING.

FINE RACE ON PARRAMATTA. (Received May 10, 5.5 p.m.) ■ : SYDNEY, May 10. In the Great Public Schools rowing contest on the Parramatta River, the Chnrclr of England 'Grammar School won the champion eights after a gruelling race and became head of the river, from. Sydney High School. St. Joseph's College was third. It was one of the'finest races in the history of this competition. Grammar School won by six feet, and there was a canvas between second and third. King's School also rowed well. IN SYDNEY. DEAKIN DEFEATS HAMON. (Received May 10, 5.5 p.m.) SYDNEY, May 10. In a wrestling match yesterday Jim Deakin, list. l^lb., an Australian middleweight, beat Jack Ilamon, lOst.
