FOOTBALLERS INJURED.
MANY MISHAPS ON SATURDAY. An exceptionally large number of foot bailers was injured on Saturday, the members of tho St. John Ambulance on duly and Lhe hospital authorities being kept busy during the afternoon. Two players, David Asher, aged 20, of 31, King Edward Street, Dominion Road, and Raymond Gilinore Mellsop, aged 19, who resides at the Y.M.C.A., received concussion, while a third, Leslie Ihomas. aged 20, of Hutchinson Avenue, New Lynn, suffered a compound fracture of the left leg. Allan Gustavo Ambrose, aged 28, a truck driver, of 168, Great North Road, had his right kneecap fractured.
In addition a number of other players were treated in the casualty ward for less serious injuries and later sent home. J. Lunn, of 27, Ireland Street, Ponsonby, received fractured ribs while playing League at Carlaw Park, and three members of a junior Ponsonby team were also injured.
